Clean and Safe, was launched by Portugal’s tourism industry as a safety label.
At first glance, the label may seem insignificant. However, its objective is very important. In the face of the coronavirus epidemy, it is to guarantee the respect of hygiene conditions and to reassure the customers.
Tourism de Portugal has tackled the problem very quickly, in order to send a positive message on the international scene.
In fact, Portugal was the first country to obtain the international “Safe Travel” label, awarded by the World Travel & Tourism Council.

Clean and safe , the label for many activities
Against what one might think, it is not so simple to apply the recommendations suggested by the label.
The Clean and safe manual is 35 pages long. This means that it is demanding.
In theory, the label was mainly intended for hotels. But in the end it is extended to many tourist activities.
Restaurants and accommodations, touristics information points, activities and animations, car, bicycle, sailboat or skating rentals can obtain it.
Campsites and swimming pools, tree climbing, golf and even guide-interpreters… .
All in all, holidays are short and we want to be able to enjoy them in complete peace and quiet.
